Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Colossians 1:11a

We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the

endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy.

We have all heard it said, “time flies when you’re having fun” well this year is going by very quickly and yet other things seem to be taking forever, let me explain. I have been home adjusting to life in the United States for a little over two months. I arrived home just in time to start all the holiday fun. We have celebrated several birthdays and spent some much-needed quality time with the family. I was thrilled to meet my grandson Matthew and his wife Chelsea’s first baby. She is a sheer delight and as precious as her name-Amelia Rose Mari’. Tuesday Morning Bible studies is also new to my routine and I have had several opportunities to catch up with friends over lunch and dinner.

As I shared in my last blog, I was informed my cancer has returned, so as soon as the holidays were over, I started my many Doctors appointments. I’ve been told by my Doctors that the type of cancer I have is a more aggressive than I had previously and will require more extensive treatment. At the beginning of the year the Lord gave me two words to carry me throughout the year, they are patience and endurance. Wow! Two powerful words. It is hard to be patient when you are told to wait for test results and it’s challenging to have endurance when you are facing daily fatigue. But I am learning that God has me in his care and is giving me strength to endure when all I really want is to get healthy NOW!!! The diagnosis is positive for a complete recovery and I need to trust HIS perfect timing for me.

So far treatment is going very well, and I can continue with my work with Grace English school and staff. I am in constant contact with them and continue to do all that I did in India from here in the States. All except be in the classroom every day with my precious little ones and interacting on a more personal level with the staff.

Our School, Grace English, was blessed to receive a portion of the Advent Conspiracy offering collected from the First Baptist Church of Lodi. We are excited to start construction on our new Chapel/Multipurpose building. We will also be moving one of our current student bathrooms to a new location that will better serve the students.

In India the school year starts in January, and this year has started with a full roster of 120 students enrolled. We are thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to feed into the lives of these wonderful students. Your continued support and donations have helped in so many ways. Our 5th & 6th grade class increased, your donations paid to build 3 new desks and benches. We have also added a computer for the teachers to use. They are very excited to input the tests on the computer and print out as many tests as needed without having to hand write each one, something we can take for granted

here. Your donations bought new uniforms and books, paid teachers and support staff salaries and purchased a healthy supply of rice, vegetables and fruit.

For many of these children their uniforms are the nicest clothes they will have, and it may be the one daily meal they receive. I cannot express my gratitude enough! Whether you give prayer support, financial contributions, or buy a coffee at our beautiful new counter…IT CHANGES THEIR LIVES!

When I return to India next time, my living situation will change a little. I will still be living with Sanu and his family, but we have now hired Senti, his wife, as one of our teachers. That means she will not be available to do all the many things she did for me in the past. I will need to make my own breakfast and lunch and most likely do my own laundry. Yes, I have been very spoiled up too this point!!! But, serving guests in their homes is a big part of their culture, even though I have tried to help, their servants’ hearts have blessed me tremendously. But now with Senti working more outside the home, I look forward to taking on some of these responsibilities myself. This brings up a need we have. It would be easier to do this if we had added a second story added onto Sanu’s house. I would have my own kitchen and living area. It would give all of us more private spaces and give us the room needed for visiting people. With me being home receiving treatments, it would be a perfect time to build this addition, but funds are holding it up at this point. Some have asked, why not rent your own home, rather than building onto Sanu’s? It comes down to two things, safety and the comfort of being in a family environment. Sanu and Senti’s home affords me both. I am trying to have patient-endurance for God’s timing. If you would like to help with this project, I would deeply appreciate it.

God is teaching me it is good to be home and that I can still do the ministry he has called me to do but from home, and I hold tight to His promise to send me back to India as soon as I am healthy enough to travel.

I continue to ask for your prayers and financial support. Since being home my financial support has dropped off considerably. I am trusting God to supply my every need whether here in the States or in India, either way I am still called to serve this school with all I have and believe God will send me back by the end of this year or beginning of next.
